Preparing To Leave In 2016-Emotionally
How does one explain preparing to leave emotionally? There are so many emotions. I’m sad, because I will miss my grandkids, kids, relatives, church, friends, and my comforts of home. I will miss the family gatherings, birthday parties, holidays, even snow (not too much), and the fall colors. I will miss seeing my grandchildren growing up with the ballet’s, their music, their attempts at hunting and fishing and all the things that fill my memories.
When we were missionaries in Mexico, my children were with me, and it wasn’t as difficult leaving everything behind. We created a new normal. We had a house, and a new church family in Mexico, whom I loved and always will. We were in one place. This time it’s just me. There won’t be just one place to stay and establish myself, it will be various places, but I do have a lot to come home to. A new normal will have to be re-established.
Another emotion is loneliness, not being with family and friends, but joy comes in the morning. I am totally excited and geeked about the new adventure that God has placed before me. I’m looking forward to meeting new friends and helping in new places.
Worry tries to discourage me, but I know scripture says, Philippians 4:6 “Don’t be anxious for anything; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”
On the other hand there are emotions of excitement, fulfillment, happiness and trust in the Lord and family and friends for their prayer and financial support.
I guess preparing is by faith as well. It’s believing in the direction that you know God has called you. Maybe it’s also communicating. There is facebook, other social media, e-mails, blogs, and Skype to keep in touch. Decades ago, not even a phone was available at times. Keeping in touch is soooo important to those who are far away. There is no reason to say, “out of sight, out of mind.” Please take time (even just a few minutes) out of your busy schedule to write a word of prayer, a verse, a word of encouragement, etc.
So send me your pictures, what your activities are and what is going on with you, so I can add these to my memories as well. Communicating to the Father in prayer for each other is even more important. You pray for me and I will pray for you.
Blessings,
Norene
